MINI Battery Service

Benefits of a Battery Service
You probably don't think twice about getting in your car and having it start right up. But when the battery dies, you pay attention! In optimal conditions, your car's battery will last anywhere from 3-5 years. But external factors can wear out the battery much faster. Cold winters or hot summers, for instance, can reduce your battery's lifespan to less than two years! Your habits and those of others who use your car can also affect the battery life. Leaving a passenger door or trunk open too long can drain the battery quickly. So can leaving phones, iPods, and other electronic devices plugged in overnight.
You might recall one incident that drained the battery, which then leads you to contact us for battery service, or you might know that your battery is getting towards the end of its life. But if you can't remember doing anything to drain the battery or you're not sure if the battery is the problem, there are some signs you can look for that will clue you in. If the battery is losing steam, one of the main issues you might find is that the engine cranks more slowly when you start the car. It might also crank and not start, or not even crank at all. Additionally, the headlights on your car might seem dimmer than they usually do. That is especially apparent during or right after starting the car. The lights in the cabin may also appear darker than usual, and you might find that it takes longer to charge electronics. Sometimes corrosion and leaks will cause the battery not to work correctly. One way to determine this is by checking the fluid levels. The battery fluid level should at least be as high as the lead plates. If it's not, you'll need to add more or have the battery tested. Seeing corrosion around the ends of the battery is another indication that there might be a leak. The connector cables can also become frayed, which necessitates a battery replacement.

Genuine MINI Parts in Brentwood, TN
If you go through all the effort to bring your car in for repairs, the last thing you want is to have someone install sub-par components. After all, that defeats the purpose of getting the car fixed! To avoid that situation, we're proud to use only high-quality, manufacturer-guaranteed parts for our customers' vehicles. The parts we use are called original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. OEM parts are the most reliable, as they come with a manufacturer's warranty. The other option for car components is aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts, in contrast to OEM parts, do not have any quality guarantee or manufacturer certification. Aftermarket parts are often used by non-certified repair shops, which attract customers by highlighting the aftermarket parts' lower price tags. But customers often find that getting cheaper parts hurts them, as they end up spending more to replace bad components.
